Youth Connect South West is making support more accessible for the young people of Bath.

We officially opened our new City Centre Youth Space on the 13th of March 2023. The new space is located at 28 Southgate Street (opposite the bus station). The official opening of the space was done by Councillor Dine Romero.

The centre offers regular daytime drop-in sessions for young people who need support to find employment and training, and someone to speak to about issues that matter to them. Youth groups are open outside of school hours on weekdays, Friday evenings and Saturdays, including girl’s groups, art clubs, and a games night.

Youth Connect South West is an independent non-profit charity supporting young people in Bath and North East Somerset and beyond. We provide both universal and targeted opportunities for young people aged 11 - 25. They offer a range of support including youth work, 1-1 targeted support and careers advice and guidance.

Councillor Dine Romero, cabinet member for Children, Young People and Communities, said: “Youth Connect South West does amazing work with young people across Bath and North East Somerset and it is a real pleasure to be able to join them and the team at the launch of this new space. It is so important that our young people have this kind of base in the city, a place to meet up, find support and get involved with positive activities – well done to the team for getting it off the ground.”

A contribution to the Youth Space development was secured by Youth Connect South West working in a local partnership which includes Bath & North East Somerset Council, B&NES Council’s Violence Reduction Unit, Bath BID and Developing Health & Independence's Project28. The Safer Streets initiative is a Home Office fund which enables local authorities to invest in crime prevention initiatives, this funding will be used by Youth Connect South West to deliver a range of projects across Bath City Centre aimed at making Bath a safer space.

Youth connect south west’s CEO, Tracey Pike has said “I am absolutely delighted to announce the formal opening of our new City Centre Youth Space, a safe place for young people in the centre of Bath. The importance of this central venue for young people is something we are very proud of and can’t wait to see the program and activities on offer increase.”
