EDUCATION SUPPORT PACKAGES

Please note that this year we intend to enrol all young people in their courses by September 30th. Our staff are getting in contact with young people and their parents or carers to arrange the next steps as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have any inquiries, please contact us at: altedreferrals@ycsw.org.uk

WHAT ARE EDUCATION SUPPORT PACKAGES

Education Support Packages are part of the Alternative Education offer at YCSW. They are available for young people aged 13 – 16 who are not attending mainstream school due to anxiety, mental health difficulties, challenging behaviour and other reasons.  A standard Education Support Package offers up to 6 hours a week of support, which includes 1:1 sessions with the young person as well as support with travel and attendance at meetings. Education Support packages are tailored to meet the needs of the young person with the aim of increasing engagement, achievement and wellbeing. They can run alongside alternative education placements or can be used when a young person needs additional help during a transition between settings. Young people referred for Education Support will have an active Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and their place will be agreed with SEND.

A young person is seen bouncing on a trampoline in a gym, capturing a moment of fun and physical activity.

M has tried lots of new activities and met numerous new people. He has developed good friendships with other young people and has greatly improved his social skills. His mental health has improved and he now has a good support network around him that he can turn to when things are challenging. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with M and wish him all the best for his time on L4W and in the future. We know he is going to do amazingly well!’
