March Wellbeing - Take Notice

During the month of March we are going to encourage staff to take a photo of something that you have enjoyed (including food and drink! šŸ˜Š) something you have seen, something/that has inspired you, or even an image from a book or film that you have enjoyed. MIND have conducted research in to wellbeing and have developed 5 steps to wellbeing. Last month was Be Active, and this monthā€™s task will link into the ā€œTake Noticeā€ step, as explained below:

Take notice

Reminding yourself to ā€˜take noticeā€™ can strengthen and broaden awareness.

Studies have shown that being aware of what is taking place in the present directly enhances your well-being and savouring ā€˜the momentā€™ can help to reaffirm your life priorities.

Heightened awareness also enhances your self-understanding and allows you to make positive choices based on your own values and motivations.

Take some time to enjoy the moment and the environment around you. Here are a few ideas:

  • Get a plant for your workspace

  • Have a ā€˜clear the clutterā€™ day

  • Take notice of how your colleagues are feeling or acting

  • Take a different route on your journey to or from work

  • Visit a new place for lunch.

You can use this link to find out more information about the 5 steps https://www.mind.org.uk/workplace/mental-health-at-work/taking-care-of-yourself/five-ways-to-wellbeing/

We would welcome photos throughout the whole of the month, and there is no limit to the amount that you send! Please email them to me. I am hoping with your consent, that we can then display the photos at all of our sites, and we will create a gallery of them on the staff portal for all to enjoy! Please send any pictures to shelley.bush@ycsw.org.uk
